Hi Carolina! These studies look awesome! Your work was exceptional when you started this challenge, but you’ve gotten even better! I can really see the progress. I had a break in my schedule this week so I’m trying to finish up a couple of the Master Monday assignments along with plugging away at some of the many NMA courses I want to take. After drawing almost nonstop the past year, taking these past three weeks off felt so odd! I really missed it. Going forward I’m going to try to at least do a quick sketch every day even when I’m traveling. I’m really hoping I can fit in Joshua’s anatomy course once it starts! At least it will likely be in the archives. Again, great work! You definitely keep getting more amazing!

Things are starting to click a bit better. I haven’t been doing any Master Monday assignments. I think once I am done with this challenge (and Russian course) I’ll go back and attempt some. Revisit those controlled hatch marks so I don’t forget them! I am so focused on getting through this Russian course…will probably skip the remaining anatomy (legs, torso, arms) but go through the portraits and drapery.
I am actually glad we had a bit of a break from Season 1 but also looking forward to Joshua’s anatomy sessions and getting back into Anatomy Mondays or Fridays or Saturdays! That’s going to be quite the task & commitment (when we can) but we will all learn so much just like in Season 1. And yes, I am glad they are putting all these sessions in the archives on NMA so that we can have access to them at our leisure. I haven’t done any Fridays with Glenn but may go through some of those at some point.
Jan, enjoy your travels! And sketching and learning…there is sooo much and time just flies!
April 24, 2021 at 8:57 am #1383720I finally had a chance to participate in Glenn’s live figure drawing session this week. I would highly recommend it! He’s remarkable. I’ve also been [slowly!] working through the Russian course which has really helped my development. It’s been Master Mondays, though, with the combination of Joshua’s insightful commentary along with the hours and hours of practice that filled in so many gaps and seemed to bring everything together for me. I’ve been trying, too, to find a better way to describe your work rather than “awesome” – which it is! I think what I love the most is the grace and elegance of your lines, and how intentional every mark seems to be. Your hand always seems to do just what you want it to! Like I’ve said before, I’m in awe!

Great work on your Master Monday’s Eyes and the re-doing of the first assignment – great proportions (mine came out anorexic…lol) ! Joshua will be back for a session beginning of May and will be critiquing again. I hope to get one of the extra credit ones in….hopefully. Thank you!!…my initial lay-ins never turn out how I want them….requires adjusting all the way till the end.
