I love the staircase! I always get perspective wrong lol you are doing a good job with it 👍
January 21, 2021 at 4:43 am #1119467thanks Curtis. I have to admit I spent like 2 hours following those two lectures to draw the stairs, I dont see myself drawing a lot of spiral staircase in the future! :’D
February 1, 2021 at 7:06 am #1149680DAY#98. For the past 11 days Ive just been focusing on the perspective course and didn’t want to keep spamming the explore feed daily with it. Anyway, I have 34 hours left of the course so here’s an update on all the diagrams I have covered (see imgur link, takes too long to upload to NMA), Ill leave out my notes book otherwise this will be a very long thread :’D

I’ve followed your challenge from the beginning. I remember you mentioning that you wanted to learn things that were so hard that nobody else wanted to do them. I also remember you questioning your talent early on. I hope you can feel more confident now looking back at what you’ve accomplished. You’ve already separated yourself from the competition with both your tremendous ability and dedication. I also want to say again what a difference your comments and recommendations have made in my own development. It’s no exaggeration that some of your insights were truly game changers for me. Thank you for sharing your work and your knowledge, and best of luck going forward in your artistic career!
February 3, 2021 at 2:50 am #1159218@janstannard Hi Jan! havent seen you on the forums for a while, hope youre keeping well! Thanks for such kind comments. Unfortunately I still feel very much at the beginning of my learning! :’D I do feel that I have made good efforts and strides in the right direction. Ultimately I decided that I needed to focus on perspective/environments and rendering/colour&light because theres more work for artists who specialise in that. So I stopped studying anatomy for now and made myself a curriculum of content focusing on other more pertinent areas (hopefully this will mean less wasted time). I think I will start another 100 day challenge or a sketchbook forum with more consistency and less gaps, feel a bit guilty for the stop starting and forgetting to post on here.
Youre quite welcome to keep asking my opinions on this or on the new posts. As Oscar Wilde said, the best thing to do with good advice is to pass it on 🙂
February 3, 2021 at 2:18 pm #1160111#100 Complete.
did some more perspective today. kept messing up the dukebox demo. Ill probably go back to that one, he does it in a bad order really, who extrudes out a whole design from the smallest part? nobody. anyway, Ill probs set up a brewer grid and try to do it at a larger scale.
Day#100 reflections. Well, tbh it doesn’t feel much like an achievement it just feels like habit to keep practicing and learning every day now. looking back, there’s a lot of improvement. There’s a lot of wasted time as well though, the best part about this challenge is that I’ve figured out what I want to learn, and in what order to do so, where/ how I’m wasting time and how to be more efficient and deliberate in learning. I’m also more comfortable with my ability and feel less anxious about my development, I think if I keep on this trajectory that I will arrive at where I want to be quite quickly.
don’t know whether to start another 100 day challenge or just start a sketchbook blog.
I think I achieved my aims in this challenge, which was basically to study a lot and also try to work often enough for it to become habit and easy to prioritise over other things.
